* HIM Emperor Akihito of Japan who is married to HIM Empress Michiko of Japan, born Michiko Shoda. They have 2 sons and 1 daughter.

** HIH Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan who is married to HIH Crown Princess Masako of Japan, born Masako Owada. They have 1 daughter.
*** HIH Princess Aiko of Japan, Princess Toshi.

** HIH Prince Fumihito of Japan, Prince Akishino, who is married to HIH Kiko, Princess Akishino of Japan, born Kiko Kawashima. They have 2 daughters and 1 son.
