Wedding GF & S: Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia and Princess Sophie of Isenburg announce wedding date

HIRH Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia, head of the Royal House of Prussia and head of the German Imperial House, and HSH Princess Sophie of Isenburg announced their wedding date. The wedding is to take place on August 27, 2011, at the Friedenskirche in Potsdam.


Around 700 guests are to attend and on the eve before their wedding the annual concert in aid of the “Princess Kira of Prussia Foundation” will be held.

Prince Georg Friedrich is the son of HIRH the late Prince Louis Ferdinand and his wife, née Countess Donata of Castell-Rüdenhausen. The couple also has a daughter, HRH Princess Cornelie-Cecile. Princess Donata later married HH Duke Friedrich August of Oldenburg as his second wife.

Princess Sophie is the daughter of HSH Fürst Franz Alexander of Isenburg and his wife, née Countess Christine of Saurma, Freiin von und zu der Jeltsch. In addition to Princess Sophie, the couple has two sons, HSH Hereditary Prince Alexander and HSH Prince Viktor, and two daughters, HIRH Archduchess Katherina of Austria, who is married to HIRH Archduke Martin of Austria and the have 3 children, HIRH Archduke Bartholomäus, HIRH Archduke Emmanuel and HIRH Archduchess Helene of Austria, and HSH Fürstin Isabella of Wied, who is married to HSH Fürst Carl of Wied and they have 3 children, HSH Hereditary Prince Maximilian, HSH Prince Friedrich and HSH Princess Isabella of Wied.

It's a girl for Princess Margarita of Bourbon-Parma and Tjalling ten Cate

HRH Princess Margarita of Bourbon-Parma, Countess of Colorno, and Tjalling ten Cate welcomed their second daughter, Paola Cecilia Laurentien, on February 25, 2011 at 18.05 h at the Bronovo Hospital in The Hague. Paola weight 2825 grams at birth.


According to a spokesman, the parents are very grateful and intensely happy with the birth of their second daughter.

The couple were married on May 3, 2008, and their first child, Julia, was born September 3, 2008.

Princess Margarita is the daughter of HRH the late the Duke of Parma and Piacenza, Prince Carlos Hugo, and his former wife,  HRH Princess Irene of the Netherlands, one of the younger sisters of the Dutch Queen.

First official pictures of the new Prince and Princess of Denmark

The Danish Royal court released official pictures of the newborn Prince and Princess of Denmark, the third and fourth children of TRH Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary. The pictures include a picture of the new Prince, a picture of the new Princess, two pictures of the little Prince and Princess and two pictures of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess with the twins.

The twins were born on January 8 at 10:30 and 10:56, at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen and joined older brother, Prince Christian, born October 15, 2005, and older sister, Princess Isabella, born April 21, 2007.

Wedding W&C: Invitations to the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton have been sent

The invitations to the wedding of HRH Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton on April 29, 2011, in the Westminster Abbey, have been sent. They were sent last Wednesday and Thursday, February 16 and 17, 2011.

Wedding invitations - The wedding of HRH Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton
19th February 2011

Invitations to the wedding of Prince William and Miss Middleton have been issued in the name of Her Majesty The Queen.

The following groups of people have been invited to the wedding:

• Members of The Royal Family and their friends
• Members of the Middleton Family and their friends
• Friends of Prince William and Miss Middleton
• Members of Foreign Royal Families
• Representatives from the Defence Services
• Representatives from Prince William’s patronages
• Representatives from the Church and other faiths
• Members of the Government, Parliament and Devolved Administrations
• Members of the Diplomatic Corps
• Governors-General and Prime Ministers from the Realms
• Members of the Royal Household

Around 1,900 people have been invited to the service at Westminster Abbey.

Around 600 people have been invited to the lunchtime reception at Buckingham Palace given by The Queen.

Around 300 people have been invited to the dinner at Buckingham Palace given by The Prince of Wales.

A rough breakdown of numbers of guests is as follows (this includes spouses):
• The vast majority of guests are drawn from Prince William and Miss Middleton’s Family and Friends – over 1,000
• Over 50 Members of The Royal Family
• Over 40 Members of Foreign Royal Families
• Over 200 Members of Government, Parliament and Diplomatic Corps
• Approximately 80 guests drawn from Prince William’s charities
• 60 Governors-General and Realm Prime Ministers
• 30 Members of the Defence Services

The EIIR on the invitation is die-stamped in gold and then burnished.  The text on the invitation is also die-stamped. The edges of the  invitation are bevelled then gilded.

There was a photoshoot with HM Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, and her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, TRH the Prince and Princess of Orange, Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima of the Netherlands, with their daughters, HRH Princess Amalia, HRH Princess Alexia and HRH Princess Ariane of the Netherlands, TRH Prince Friso and Princess Mabel of Orange-Nassau with their daughters, The Highborn Lady, Countess Luana of Orange-Nassau, and The Highborn Lady, Countess Zaria of Orange-Nassau, and TRH Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands with their children, The Highborn Lady, Countess Eloise of Orange-Nassau The Highborn Lord, Count Claus-Casimir of Orange-Nassau, and The Highborn Lady, Countess Leonore of Orange-Nassau, on February 19, 2011.

Prince William and (then) Princess William of Wales will visit Canada from June 30 till July 8, 2011

HRH Prince William of Wales and his then wife, HRH Princess William, will visit Canada from June 30 till July 8, 2011.

HRH Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton to undertake a Royal tour of Canada


16th February 2011

Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton have accepted an invitation from the Government of Canada to undertake a Royal Tour of Canada.

The Royal Tour by Prince William and Miss Middleton will include Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and the National Capital Region. The tour will take place from 30th June to 8th July, 2011.

A detailed itinerary will be published at a later date by the Department of Canadian Heritage.

Note from the owner of this blog: It is possible Prince William will "receive a Dukedom or Earldom with his wedding, making Catherine "HRH The Duchess of X" or "HRH The Countess of X," but for now, I'll list her on future events after the wedding as HRH Princess William.

Prince William to be Patron of the University of St. Andrews 600th Anniversary Appeal

HRH Prince William of Wales has become Patron of the University of St. Andrews 600th Anniversary appeal.

The University of St. Andrews 600th Anniversary will span three calendar years from 2011 to 2013. It will mark the formal charter granted by Bishop Henry Wardlaw in February 1411 and the achievement of full university status conferred by Pope Benedict XIII by Papal Bull in 1413.

St. Andrews alumnus Prince William, accompanied by his fiancée, Miss Catherine Middleton, also a St. Andrews alumna, will return to the University on February 25, 2011, to launch its 600th Anniversary.


Prince William and Miss Middleton first met at the University of St. Andrews, from where they both graduated in 2005.

On entry to St. Andrews, Prince William studied Art History, Social Anthropology and Geography, choosing at the end of his second year to do his Honours Degree in Geography, graduating with a 2:1.

On entry to St. Andrews Miss Middleton chose Art History, Social Anthropology and Classics, choosing at the end of her second year to do her Honours Degree in Art History, graduating with a 2:1.

20th birthday of Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg

HRH Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, Princess of Nassau, the only daughter of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, turns 20 today.

Princess Alexandra Joséphine Teresa Charlotte Marie Wilhelmine was born on February 16, 1991, as the fourth child and only daughter of then Hereditary Grand Duke Henri and Hereditary Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. She joined big brothers, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, then Prince Guillaume, and Princes Félix and Louis. A little over a year after her birth, her mother gave her a younger brother, Prince Sébastien, who shares a birthday with their father. Her godparents are HH the 14th Prince of Ligne, Prince Michel, and HI&RH Princess Maria-Anna Galitzine, née Archduchess of Austria.

Princess Alexandra’s hobbies are, among others, dancing, playing tennis, skiing, water skiing and swimming. She’s fluent in Luxembourgish, French and English, understands German well and is studying Spanish. The Princess is currently studying abroad.

Several new pictures of the Princess have been released, in addition to that, a gallery of mostly unknown pictures of the Princess and family members such as her father, mother, grandfather and oldest brother have been released. There is also a lovely picture of the Princess, Prince Louis and his oldest son Prince Gabriel, who is Princess Alexandra’s godchild, at Gabriel’s christening.

Wedding W&C: Maid of Honour and Bridesmaids, Best Man and Page Boys

Then names of the best man of HRH Prince William of Wales, the maid of honour of Catherine Middleton and the bridal children have been released. The couple will marry on on April 29, 2011.

Miss Catherine Middleton has asked her sister, Miss Philippa Middleton, to be her Maid of Honour.

Prince William has asked his brother, Prince Harry, to be his Best Man.

Prince William and Miss Middleton have chosen the following Bridesmaids and Page Boys:

The Lady Louise Windsor
(Aged 7 – daughter of The Earl and Countess of Wessex)

The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones
(Aged 8 – daughter of Viscount and Viscountess Linley)

Prince William of Wales appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards

HRH Prince William of Wales has been appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards.

The official press release:

PRINCE WILLIAM APPOINTED AS COLONEL OF THE IRISH GUARDS

The Queen has been pleased to give her formal approval to the appointment of Prince William as Colonel of the Irish Guards.

Prince William will take over the appointment from Major General Sir Sebastian Roberts, KCVO OBE.

Wedding A&C: More information about the wedding of Sovereign Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlène Wittstock made public

There was new information released concerning the wedding of HSH Sovereign Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlène Wittstock.

Information on the civil and religious wedding of HSH Prince Albert II and Ms Charlene Wittstock

The civil wedding will take place on Friday 1 July at 5pm in the Throne Room of the Palace of Monaco. It will be celebrated by Philippe Narmino, Director of the Judicial Services and President of the Council of State. Philippe Narmino is the Ruling Family's Registrar.

The religious ceremony will take place on Saturday 2 July at 5pm in the Main Courtyard of the Palace of Monaco, where Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Bernard Barsi.

The gates to the Palace will remain open to enable some 3 500 guests to be seated for the ceremony, which will be broadcast on giant screens.

The official dinner, followed by a ball, will take place at the Oceanographic Museum

On this occasion, Friday 1 July and Saturday 2 July will be public holidays.

The Prince and Princess of Venice and Piedmont sponsor two boys from Kenya

TRH the Prince and Princess of Venice and Piedmont, Prince Emanuele Filiberto en Princess Clotilde of Savoy, have sponsored two boys, named Alan and Moses, from Kenya in January 2011.

The Prince and Princess are parents to two daughters, HRH Princess Vittoria and HRH Princess Luisa of Savoy, who joined their parents meet the boys.

30th wedding anniversary of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg

February 14, 2011, will mark the 30th wedding anniversary of TRH Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. New pictures have been released to celebrate this joyful event. Click HERE to see the pictures at the official website of the Grand Ducal family.

Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Theresa have 4 sons, HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, HRH Prince Félix, HRH Prince Louis and HRH Prince Sébastian, and 1 daughter, HRH Princess Alexandra. Prince Louis is the only one of the children of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess who is married. The Prince is married to HRH Princess Tessy and they have 2 sons, HRH Prince Gabriel and HRH Prince Noah of Nassau.

Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg admitted to hospital

HRH Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg was admitted to the hospital on February 3, 2011, after feeling ill. According to a statement from the court, the condition of the Grand Duke was stable and the Grand Duke was to undergo an angioplasty later that day.

Another statement, released later that day, announced that the surgery was considered a success, however, the Grand Duke will remain in the hospital for at least few days.
