Wedding G&S: The wedding tiara

The tiara the new HRH Princess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, née Countess of Lannoy, wore to her wedding is the Lannoy family tiara.

The tiara is composed of 270 old-cut brilliants set in platinum, with a diamond in an inverted pear shape superimposed in the centre. A dozen larger brilliants stand out owing to their closed sets, appearing like buttons along the patterns of leafed scrolls. The contours of the tiara, traced by the arrangements of the stones, are underlined by a thin line of platinum gilded pearls. The tiara was created by the firm Altenloh de Bruxelles in 1878.

Wedding G&S: The Wedding dress & bridesmaids + pages outfits, hair and make-up

The designer of the wedding dress of the new HRH Princess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, née Countess of Lannoy, is Elie Saab.

The dress required 3200 hours of work and 700 hours of embroidery sewing. Among the items used, 50 meters of Chantilly lace, 40 yards of lace from Calais, 30 meters of satin organza, 70 meters tulle, crepe silk lining, 15 meters of silk tulle for the veil, 200 skeins transparent - different qualities and size - more than 80,000 different transparent crystals, 50,000 beads, and more than 10,000 meters of embroidery covered with silver. The dress measured 2.50 meters in length with a second train starting from the waist with the length of 4.50 meters. The veil measured 5 meters and the skirt had 12 layers.

The Bridesmaids and pages are wearing clothes from Nathan.

The brides hair was done by Tom Marcineau from Maison CARITA-Paris, while her make-up was done by Bouzouk, a make-up artist from Belgium.

The hair of HRH Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Luxembourg, HRH Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, Antonia Hamilton and the younger bridesmaids was also done by Tom Marcineau, while other family members had their hair done by Salons Alexandre de Paris, Decreton (Metz), as well as Luxembourg hairdresser Jeanne and Dessange.

The make-up of HRH Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Luxembourg, HRH Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, Antonia Hamilton and the younger bridesmaids was also done by Tom Marcineau from Maison CARITA-Paris, while other family members had their make-up done by Decreton (Metz) and Dessange.

The wedding bands of the future bride and groom are made of yellow gold purchased through fair trade, a decision made by the young Couple as a sign of their particular awareness of the environmental and social issues.

Wedding G&S: Flower arrangements

Information about the flower arrangements for the religious wedding of TRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, née Countess of Lannoy.

The Service Jardin & Parc of the Château de Colmarg-Berg, under the direction of Pol Damé, is in charge of coordinating and implementing the decorations and floral arrangements. For this, the team of the Grand-Ducal Court has sought reinforcement in Alain Feltes, sexton at NotreDame Cathedral in Luxembourg, as well as his team, a few Luxembourg florists, and two classes of the 'Fleuriste' section of the Lycée agricole d’Ettelbruck. In total, the team comprises 26 people.

The decoration of the Cathedral will take 6 full days, for the placing of 3,000 roses, 500 green plants and other flowers in arrangements to be enjoyed throughout the religious ceremony. Out of respect for the environment and the principles of fair trade, all the flowers were sourced from the 'Transfair' label.

HRH The Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Grand Duke Henri, held a speech during the galadiner held to celebrate the wedding of TRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, née Countess of Lannoy, following the couples civil wedding today, 19 October 2012.

My dear Stéphanie,
My dear Guillaume,

On this, the evening of your wedding, we, your parents, would like to say how happy and proud we are that you are embarking on this journey together through life. 

We have seen your love blossom for more than two years now. It has grown over time into this couple beaming with happiness, whom we have the pleasure of seeing before us today. You have travelled this path together. Therefore, you know that marriage is a union, a commitment which is renewed each day. It is a shared pledge; where each party must act in accordance with the other. A successful marriage means looking together in the same direction. Looking at you, there is absolutely no doubt: you are made for one another, ready to embrace the joys, but also the trials and tribulations of life in the service of each other, the service of your family and the service of your country, over which, one day, you will reign. In your union, the people of Luxembourg see a harbinger of continuity which will lead our cherished country towards a future that we fervently hope will be prosperous and peaceful.

My dear Stéphanie, 

We welcome you on this day with overwhelming joy. We know that, through your sensitivity, your intelligence and your devotion, you will bring great happiness to our son. The fact that you have already endured the most difficult of ordeals, notably the sudden passing of your beloved mother, has shown us that you are capable of strength and courage in the face of adversity. 

Alix, for those of us fortunate enough to have known her, will always remain an exceptional person. From heaven above, she will watch over you, so that you, too, will be a united and exemplary couple, as were Alix and Philippe. May their example guide you throughout your lives. 

At the time of your engagement and your presentation to the national authorities, the Luxembourg people immediately adopted you as their future Princess. Your radiance, your beliefs and your tenderness make you the perfect person to assist and support Guillaume throughout his life. We love you and are happy and grateful that you have chosen our son. 

We would like to thank your dear parents for the unconditional support that they showed during the blossoming of your love. Alix, your dear mother, shall remain in our hearts, especially during these celebrations. Your father Philippe is giving the hand of his final daughter, his youngest child, in marriage. We can imagine how he must feel. 

The union between our two families, with well-established traditions, based on Christian values, passed on to their children, is also a pledge of strength for our young couple.

For Stéphanie and for you, now begins the grand and wonderful adventure of marriage. We have watched you grow up to become a responsible individual, resolutely committed to the service of others and, in particular, to those who are suffering. Your great ability to interact with others allows you to perform your duties with intelligence and ease. The trade missions which you lead with such skill are indispensable to the promotion of our country worldwide, particularly in the challenging situation in which we currently find ourselves.

Yes, my dear Guillaume, we are proud of you, you are a man of duty and your guiding principle is the common good. The civil wedding between HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and Countess Stéphanie of Lannoy took place on 19 October 2012.

Following te civil wedding, the Countess became "Her Royal Highness, Princess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, Countess of Lannoy." In the (near) future, the Grand Duke will issue a Grand Ducal Decree stating that the Princess receives the title of Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg.
