Exhibition "Princess Estelle - Birth and Christening" & new official pictures of Crown Princess family of Sweden

The exhibition "Princess Estelle - Birth and Christening" opens at 19 October 2012. In connection with this exhibition, the Swedish Royal Court released new official pictures of HRH Princess Estelle of Sweden, the Duchess of Östergötland.

There are 3 pictures of the Princess alone. 2 with her parents, TRH Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, the Duchess and Duke of Västergötland, and 1 of the Princess with Prince Daniel.

Christening of Princess Estelle: The Official pictures

The Swedish Royal Court has released the official pictures of the christening of HRH Princess Estelle of Sweden, Duchess of Östergötland. The pictures were taken by Bruno Ehrs in the red diningroom of Princess Sibylla's apartments.

The first picture shows the little Princess with her parents, TRH Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, Duchess and Duke of Västergötland.



The second picture shows the little Princess with her parents and her grandparents, TM King Carl Gustav and Queen Silvia of Sweden and Olle and Ewa Westling.



The third picture shows Princess Estelle with her parents and her godparents, HRH Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, Duke of Värmland; Anna Westling Soderstrom; HRH the Prince of Oranje, Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands; HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat; and HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.

Christening of Princess Estelle: The Crown and the Order

The Prince Oscar crown was used during the christening of HRH Princess Estelle of Sweden, Duchess of Östergötland.

The Prince Oscar crown  was made ​​in 1844 to the then Prince Oscar (II) before his father's (future Oscar I) coronation. The crown jewels were taken from the Treasury. After several crowns were manufactured in the 1700s, the collection of loose gems and pearls as reduced significantly, which is why, for example, Spires 32 infattade gems are cut in half. Stones were also chosen from Erik XIV's Crown and from Gustav II's Epaulette.

Crown structure differs in detail from the ordinary with a vase at the center front instead of a scepter. The location of this is according to heraldic rules only for the Crown Prince's crowns. The crown has been selected because it's a Bernadotte Crown, and because the future King Oscar II was the Duke of Östergötland.

Christening of Princess Estelle: The baptismal font

The baptismal font at the christening of HRH Princess Estelle of Sweden, Duchess of Östergötland, was was created in conjunction with the building of the new church in the Three Crowns Castle built in the late 1600's. HM King Karl XI of Sweden ordered a new font in silver that would be one of his gifts to the new church.

The baptismal font was frist used at the christening of of the later HM King Gustav III in 1746, and has been used at every (Swedish) Royal christening since.

Christening of Princess Estelle: The flower decorations

For the christening of HRH Princess Estelle of Sweden, Duchess of Östergötland, the Royal Chapel and the Royal Palace is adorned with flowers in white and light green.
