Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh visit Canada and New York - Day 9

HM Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and HRH The Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, born Prince of Greece and Denmark, are visiting Canada from June 28 till July 6, 2010, to celebrate the centenary of the Canadian Navy and to mark Canada Day. In addition to this visit, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will visit New York on July 6, 2010, in order to address the UN General Assembly.

Toronto:

Tuesday, 6 July – Toronto
* Arrival at the Queen’s Park.
* Provincial Reception.
* Presentation of medals for Good Citizenship.
* Official departure ceremony.
* Inspection of guard.
* Arrival at Lester B. Pearson International Airport.
* Unveiling of Canadian Border Services Agency’s new badge.
* Departure.


New York:

Tuesday, 6 July – New York
* Arrival at JFK Airport.
* Arrival at United Nations Headquarters.
* Photocall in front of flags at United Nations Headquarters.
* Wreath laying ceremony in Visitors’ Lobby of United Nations Headquarters.
* Welcoming remarks by the President of the General Assembly at United Nations Headquarters.
* Remarks by the Secretary-General at United Nations Headquarters.
* Speech - The Queen’s Address to the General Assembly at United Nations Headquarters.
* Meeting with the President of the General Assembly at United Nations Headquarters.
* Meeting with the Secretary-General at United Nations Headquarters.
* Informal meeting with the Security Council at United Nations Headquarters.
* Reception with Permanent Representatives of Member States of the Commonwealth and United Nations senior officials at United Nations Headquarters.
* HM and HRH sign the visitors’ book at United Nations Headquarters..
* Departure from UN.
* World Trade Centre site visit.
* Wreath laying at World Trade Centre site.
* HM receives brief overview of the project from Executive Director, PA. and Memorial Foundation President at World Trade Centre site.
* HM meets US family members at World Trade Centre site.
* HM meets group of First Responders, Port Authority Police Department and Fire Department of New York representatives at World Trade Centre site.
* Visit to British Garden at Hanover Square.
* HM meets families at British Garden.
* HM is invited to cut the ribbon and formally open the British Garden.
* Departure JFK Airport for the UK.
